Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who would like to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts were instrumental in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned beyond her legal profession as she actively served as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce custody, child support and guardianships - aswell for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
